Gumi to Develop Drone-Based Cultural Content Combining Technology and Culture (Photo: Gumi City)
(Seoul Ilbo / Reporter Shin Young-gil) — On the 25th, the Gumi Cultural City Support Center signed a business agreement at Keimyung University with the Keimyung University Industry-Academia Cooperation Foundation (Director Min Jeong-sik), Gaion Co., Ltd. (CEO Kang Hyun-seop), DaVinci Labs Co., Ltd. (CEO Lim Heon-young), Vololand Co., Ltd. (CEO Ahn Sung-ho), VSpace Co., Ltd. (CEO Cho Beom-dong), and Preneu Co., Ltd. (CEO Lee Jong-kyung) to jointly develop cultural content using ICT drone technology as part of the initiative to establish Gumi as a Cultural City of Korea.
This agreement is based on the Regional Culture Promotion Act and aims to cultivate a unique local culture utilizing regional resources to build "Gumi, Cultural City of Korea."
Under the agreement, the organizations will cooperate on:
Joint development of "Technology × Culture Festivals" and "Technology × Cultural Care" projects using ICT drone technology
Operation of open labs for academia-industry-research collaboration and provision of technical support
Co-discovery and development of cultural content that merges technology with culture
The participating companies are all family firms of the Keimyung University Industry-Academia Cooperation Foundation and are considered innovative leaders in various unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) fields, including heavy-lift passenger drones, battery systems, intelligent flight control, and charging stations. The company representatives expressed shared recognition of the need to expand drone applications beyond defense, logistics, and environmental sectors to include citizen-friendly cultural arts and care services. They also expressed their determination to develop cultural content on the scale of major international events such as Oshkosh AirVenture, the largest airshow in the United States.
