Ulju County, Ulsan Signs 3rd Business Agreement for Drone Special Free Zone

Ulsan Information Industry Promotion Agency and 7 Demonstration Participant Institutions Sign Agreement

▲ On July 3, Ulju County in Ulsan held the third business agreement ceremony for the Ulju Drone Special Free Zone at the county office’s Eunhaengnamu Hall. The event was attended by Ulju County Mayor Lee Soon-geol, Jang Byung-tae, President of the Ulsan Information Industry Promotion Agency (the lead institution), and representatives from seven participating organizations.


Ulju County, led by Mayor Lee Soon-geol, has initiated preparations to secure its third consecutive designation as a Drone Special Free Zone, aiming to realize its vision of becoming the “Standard City for Drones.”

The agreement was signed by Ulju County, the lead institution Ulsan Information Industry Promotion Agency, and seven participating organizations:

△ Genosoft

Under the agreement, each organization will cooperate in promoting commercialization through drone demonstrations to solve urban challenges and enhance public convenience, ultimately contributing to the realization of Ulju as a standard drone city.

The agreement outlines collaboration across four major sectors encompassing 14 projects:

  • Aviation and Defense (Hyper-connected control, K-Drone delivery, Integrated defense, Drone detection)

  • Safe City (AI wildfire surveillance, AI safety monitoring, Illegal fishing surveillance)

  • Ecosystem Development (Drone pilot licensing education, Drone experience programs)

  • Drone Services (Mountain rescue, Urban management, Crop diagnosis, Crime prevention, Radiation measurement)

Mayor Lee Soon-geol stated, “Through this agreement, we will accelerate our efforts to establish Ulju as the standard drone city and aim for a third consecutive designation as a Drone Special Free Zone,” and added, “We will do our utmost to provide drone services that residents of Ulju can truly experience and benefit from in their daily lives.”
